Kiran: Women Poorly Represented In The Economy, Business
Women are poorly represented in the economy and are under represented in business even though they make up 50 per cent of Fiji’s population.
Ministry of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation Assistant Minister Sashi Kiran made this statement while opening the two-day Northern Division Women’s Expo at Narayan’s Park in Savusavu
She told 170 women participants from the provinces of Cakaudrove, Bua and Macuata including Rabi and Kioa islanders that based on the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) 2018 statistics, only 27 per cent of tax-paying businesses were women.
