Fiji is the first in the Pacific to have the recycling hub in a strategic location.

This was mentioned by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister for Tourism and Civil Aviation Viliame Gavoka during the Global Recycling Day 2023 held at the Sheraton Fiji Golf and Beach Resort in Nadi.

The event centred on the theme of “Plastic-free Pacific: A Plea” and engaged attendees in roundtable discussions about various aspects of waste management. The discussions covered topics such as the need for more focused activism, challenges faced in the field, innovative ideas, and policy alignment.

“We are the first country in the Pacific to have the recycling hub in a strategic location and this is something to take advantage of,” Mr Gavoka said.
