Funding Support Given to Midwives and other Women Health Workers

The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) is funding to support midwives as a way to contribute to women safety along with reproductive health services.
On Monday, February 6, 2023, the Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation, Lynda Tabuya received a courtesy call from UNFPA to carry out the partnership in targeting the most vulnerable of women and children.
The funding support will also be given to village health workers, youth volunteers for Women Friendly Spaces.

Minster Lynda Tabuya said: “”These Women Friendly Spaces was a result of a lot of logistics and planning which has contributed to the access safe and non-stigmatizing Gender- Based Violence support along with reproductive health services.
“I am pleased to note that Ministry of Women of Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation is a proud partner of the UNFPA in targeting the most vulnerable of our women and children.”
Ms Tabuya expressed her interest in working closely with UNFPA in delivering a world where women are taken of, every childbirth is safe and a young person’s potential is fulfilled.
The Ministry looks forward to furthering its partnerships with the UNFPA in furthering the interest and protection of our women and most vulnerable in our communities.
The delegation from UNFPA was led by the Director UNFPA and Representative, Lori Kato and included the Assistant Representative, Virisila Raitamata and Program Specialist, Edith Akiror.
