The opening of an environmental surveillance molecular laboratory in Labasa will boost typhoid surveillance capacity and assistance with typhoid vaccine assessment and effectiveness.
This project is spearheaded by the Ty-Five project team under the Ministry of Health and Medical Services.
During its opening at Labasa Hospital yesterday, the Minister for Health and Medical Services, Dr Atonio Lalabalavu, acknowledged the assistance by the UNICEF Pacific team.
The project construction was fully funded by UNICEF and yesterday handed ownership to the ministry.
