Renewable Energy Project In Trouble

Plans to establish another multi-million dollar renewable energy project in the interior of the mainland may never see the light of day, if resource owner concerns win the argument.
The mataqali Nadakunibure of Waivaka Village, Namosi, claim widespread consultations were not carried out over plans to construct a hydro dam on their land.
Resource owners allege the iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) and Energy Fiji Limited failed to follow proper procedures during the initial stages of negotiating the project.
The concerns were raised during the Namosi Resource Owners meeting at Nasigatoka Village.
