The seventh child in a family of 10 siblings, Constable Sulami Emily Teafiula is originally from Kioa with maternal links to Tuvalu. “Nothing is impossible, when we set our goals and work towards it,” says Police Constable Teafiula.

Constable Teafiula is based at the Raviravi Community Post in Ba.

The 21-year-old graduated from the Fiji Police Academy in November last year as a member of Batch 64.

Educated at Kioa Primary School, she attended Holy Cross College and moved on to complete her secondary school journey at Bucalevu Secondary School.

Apart from her work, she is pursuing her Bachelor of Arts Degree majoring in Pacific Policing and Social Work at the University of the South Pacific.

While she is still relatively new to community policing work, she makes time to enjoy her new life in Ba.

“I am still coping with the new environment that I am working in now and I sometimes find it difficult to speak,” she said.

“But I don’t give up and know that if I keep doing my work, learn from my superiors and supervisors I will gain the trust of the public and I vow to serve them to the best of my ability.”
