Lautoka Market Vendors Association president, Filomena O’Neill, has called for Government to implement a monitoring mechanism for farmers who charge high prices for their produce.
This was her contribution during the Fiscal Review Consultation (FRC) at the Sugarcity Mall carpark in Lautoka on Wednesday.
“Government invests so much into agriculture, but there is no monitoring mechanism in place where they come back and check on these farmers. When it comes to natural disasters they come down to the market and increase the price of their goods in the market,” Ms O’Neill said.
