FNU To Conduct Virtual Careers Teachers Workshop

Careers teachers in the maritime regions can be part of the Fiji National University’s (FNU), inaugural Careers Teachers Workshop in the virtual session today, Wednesday, April 5.
The workshop follows the success of the nation-wide workshop that was held at FNU’s Ba, Namaka, Nasinu and Naduna campuses last month. A total of 140 teachers participated in the face-to-face workshops.
The workshop is a remarkable concept that has been carefully thought of, says Magodro Secondary School senior careers’ teacher, Meresaini Wati.
Ms Wati was part of the 20 secondary school teachers who were present at the first workshop at FNU’s Ba Campus.
FNU acting Vice-Chancellor Professor Unaisi Nabobo-Baba said the workshop enabled teachers to be able to understand better how FNU could meet the academic needs of every student.
“Careers teachers spend a lot of time with their students and would be aware of their interests, strengths, and career ambitions,” she said.
“This ranges from our certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate levels of qualification. Hence, these teachers act as an information bridge between FNU and the students.”
