The Criminal Investigations Department personnel have started investigations over the alleged assault committed by police officers in Nausori.
Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sakeo Raikaci said investigation was ongoing and being handled by CID head office.
It is alleged that the seven officers from the Nausori Police Station brutalised Inoke Tuinamata, 27 of Nabua Village in Rewa, last Monday.
He claimed that officers had strip-searched him in Nausori Town around 10pm without an explanation, was asked to take off his T-shirt and pants to be searched.
