Holland St Rapist Given Tme To File Submissions
The Fiji Court of Appeal has given time to parties to file submissions in an appeal against the conviction and sentence for a 25-year-old unemployed man who was handed a 23-year jail term for raping a student at Holland Street in Suva in 2016.
Isoa Rainima’s case was called at the Fiji Court of Appeal before Judge Justice Chandana Prematilaka.
Rainima was convicted and sentenced by the High Court in October, 2018, for seven counts of rape, one count each of assault with intent to rape, sexual assault, criminal intimidation, and robbery. His non-parole period is 20 years. The incident occurred on December 23, 2016, at Holland Street in Suva.
