The Ministry of Health has been faced with the greatest challenge of maintaining its skilled medical staff in the workforce.

In addition to recruitment efforts in recognition of the loss of experienced personnel, the ministry has implemented capacity building strategies, with an in-service training budget of $776,476 for medical officers.

According to the Minister for Health and Medical Services, Dr Atonio Lalabalavu, the training would ensure that local doctors were upskilled and updated in knowledge, skills and competencies, while attaining their post-graduate qualifications.
