Leti Maca Maria has proved that being a female market vendor and a school dropout is no hurdle to attaining a tertiary qualification.
The mother of three children recently graduated with a Bachelor of Arts majoring in Sociology and Social Work from the University of the South Pacific (USP).
Originally from Udu Point, Macuata, Ms Maria, 42, dropped out from Year 13 at Holy Family Secondary School in Labasa because she was not good at mathematics.
She then started off with a casual job until she decided not to be a burden to her parents and married her husband, Anasa Tui at the age of 28.
