The Chinese Embassy in Suva has refuted claims that the Chinese Government spied on a senior Pacific leader during his visit to Fiji.

The claims were made by David Panuelo, the outgoing President of the Federated States of Micronesia (FSM), according to Voice of Amer­ica, an American radio broadcaster.

Mr Panuelo claimed that Chinese agents followed him during a recent trip to Fiji.

However, the embassy has denied any wrongdoing and stated that China treats all countries equally when developing friendly relations.
