Jagdish Chand and Asha Chand may have lived in Sydney, Aus­tralia, for 30 years but their heart to give to the country they grew up in remains strong.

Mr Chand and his wife are part of the Pt Ram Asre and Budhia Charitable Trust Foundation which comprises close family members who reside over­seas and contribute $2000 each to fund charitable works in Fiji.

One of the foundation’s most recently completed projects was the refurbished Shyamal Nand Memorial Hall at the Vatukoula Arya Samaj Primary School at Matanigata, Tavua which had its plaque unveiled on April 14.

Mr Chand said $20,000 was donated by the foundation to fund the project.
