Women are coming out to re­port crimes against them.

At least that’s the observa­tion of one of Fiji’s feminist leaders, Shamima Ali after the Fiji Police Force released statistics on the in­crease in crimes against women.

Ms Ali was speaking during the Pa­cific Prevention Summit at the Inter­Continental Fiji Golf Resort & Spa at Natadola in Sigatoka on Monday.

Ms Ali emphasised the need for continued efforts to promote gender equality, prevent violence against women and girls, and allocate a budget for better services for women. She also stressed the importance of such summits like this, where Gov­ernment and other societies can openly discuss these issues.
