Municipal Council Election Dates To Be Determined By Cabinet

Assistant Minister for Local Government, Lenora Qereqeratabua, says the timeline of when the municipal council elections are to be held will be subject to cabinet approval and will be the result of public consultations.
Ms Qereqeretabua said there were a fair number of comments and positive criticisms that they have taken on board after yesterday’s consultations.
“Tomorrow (today) we will be in Labasa, then we will go to Lautoka, Levuka and we will be letting you all know where we will be,” she said.
She added that given the last elections in 2005, there have been a lot of changes, hence, the ground work for elections needed more time for planning.
