Let’s Go Local: March 120% Of Monthly Target: Brent Hill

Fiji’s tourism industry is thriving with a record-breaking 60,548 visitor arrivals for March, a 102 per cent increase from March 2019.
The surge in arrivals is clear across all major markets against 2019 statistics:
- Australia at 126 per cent,
- New Zealand at 116 per cent,
- USA at 94 per cent,
- Canada at 176 per cent, and
- the United Kingdom at 65 per cent,
- Europe at 66 per cent.
- Pacific Islands recorded 4502 arrivals.
The margins reflect a 106 per cent increase compared to March 2019, Tourism Fiji said.
Holiday figures were strong, with a 10 per cent increase from March 2019 and a whopping 40 per cent increase from last month.
Conference And Businesses
Conference and business arrivals continue to grow, with 2403 and 1087 arrivals respectively.
“To top it off, we’ve estimated earnings of $214m,” an industry announcement by Tourism Fiji’s chief executive officer, Brent Hill said.
“This year, we’ve recorded a total of 175,284 arrivals, trending above our target,” he said.
“March alone was 120 per cent of our target for the month (50,410).
Fiji Has Recorded A Total Of 60,548 Visitor Arrivals This Month With Majority Of The Travellers Arriving From:
- Australia (28,971),
- New Zealand (10,968), and
- North America (10,002).
Majority Were Holiday Makers
A further breakdown of visitor arrivals main reason for travelling include:
- Holiday: 46,468 (77 per cent)
- Visiting Friends and Family: 3,718 (6 per cent)
- Business & Conference: 3,490 (6 per cent)
- Other: 6,872 (11 per cent)
