A new threat the music industry faces is the illegal usage of music content on the internet and in public transportation.

The music industry is losing millions of dollars in copyright revenue annually, it has been revealed.

The Fiji Performing Rights Association Limited (FIPRA) said public transport providers that go on land were downloading and playing music without a proper licence.

A new threat that the industry faces is the usage of music content on the internet.

The Fiji Copyright Act does not protect any copyright work on the internet, said FIPRA chairman, Eremasi Tamanisau.
