Rape Charged Uncle To Front Court Today
A 37-year-old man alleged to have raped his 12-year-old niece will be produced today at the Magistrates Court in Labasa.
Police, on it’s Facebook page, confirmed the accused was charged for rape.
The victim got pregnant as a result of the incident.
It is claimed that the accused man in October, last year warned the accused not to divulge the incident to anyone.
Police confirmed the victim was staying with her grandmother and the accused in the same house after the death of her parents.
The matter was identified when the victim visited the Seaqaqa Health Centre after complaining of stomach ache.
This is when she was medically confirmed of being pregnant.
The incident prompted the Fiji Women’s Crisis Centre to intervene and the accused was placed in care of one of their staff.
