The Industrial-based Wages Council that will soon be appointed will be fully responsible on determining the National Minimum Wage Rate (NMWR).
This was revealed by the Minister for Employment, Productivity and Industrial Relations, Agni Deo Singh, made the statement during his recent visit to Labasa.
The current hourly wage rate is $4. When questioned on whether the ministry were considering to increase this, Mr Singh said all changes would now go through the reestablished Wages Council.
