Music Carnival, Positive Response From Public

Lautoka’s first music carnival is challenging yet a rewarding task said the chief executive officer for Fiji Music, Samuel Sen.
The Fiji Music Carnival is taking place at the Churchill Park and will end this weekend.
There are more than 50 stalls at the venue featuring local bands including Savu ni Delai Lomai, New Covenant Gospel, Voqa kei Valenisau, Kece dance group, Mantra dance group, united Rhythm, and Sekope Raikoro, to name a few.
“It was an amazing response from the public, I walked around every night and daytime getting feedback on ways to make things right. We haven’t put the price up for things so stall holders can benefit,” he said.
The Fiji Music Carnival was organized without any sponsor, and it required a lot of effort from them and the vendors who wanted a good return for their investment.
“We’ve got a magician who’s coming on Saturday, so it’s something creative. It’s not a cheap operation to do but by the time you set up a carnival, you’re looking at about $80,000 to $90,000.”
The carnival aims to promote local artists and talent.
