Court Clerk Of 10 Years Becomes A Lawyer
Ten years as a court clerk at the Judicial Department for Taniela Laqekoro inspired him to become a lawyer.
Dan, as he is commonly known, has been working at the department as a court clerk for more than 10 years and has always been inspired by lawyers, magistrates and judges.
He stood proud as he was admitted to the bar as a legal practitioner by the acting Chief Justice Salesi Temo during the University of Fiji’s bar admission ceremony at the Grand Pacific Hotel in Suva on Thursday.
He said it was a proud day for him and his family as he made his dreams come true.
The youngest of five siblings of Naqeledamu in Bau, Tailevu, aspired to become a lawyer from a very young age.
“I have been in court every day. I have seen lawyers, magistrates and judges at the bench and I always admired them,” Dan said.
“It was always my dream to be a legal practitioner one day and I have achieved it today (Thursday). I thank God for his blessings.
“It would be a great experience to appear before the Magistrates and Judges as a lawyer as before I was a court clerk for them in their courtrooms.
“I am happy to make my family proud and my sister who travelled from Darwin, Australia to witness this today (Thursday),” Dan said.
He dedicated his achievement to his late mother who died in 2007, who worked tirelessly for him
