The arrival of luxury expedition cruising with the introduction of the 114-passenger MV Caledonian Sky in Fiji represents a significant investment in the future of tourism here.

Captain Cook Cruises Fiji chief executive officer Allison Haworth West said the vessel would be in the country in November on the basis of a long-term charter from its current port in Australia.

Captain Cook will further develop its remote itineraries, pioneered with their ship, MV Reef Endeavour, and taking guests to some of the remotest and most beautiful parts of Fiji, including the North and the Lau group. Tonga and Samoa are included.

“We’re proud to be able to bring MV Caledon.ian. Sky here and provide a level of experience on board,” she said.

“We feel we’re uniquely placed to be able to bring the real authenticity of the Fiji experience in a deeper way. Bring the experience that we have, and now elevate that opportunity both onboard experience and in terms of the itineraries.

“This adds another level in terms of itinerary inclusions, and a very unique, exclusive experience of Fiji that you can’t get any other way. As people in Fiji understand that Lau and the outer islands have some of the most beautiful locations and the only way you can get there is by cruising with us.

Currently, they have a seven-night itinerary to Lau. Captain Cook will add two new itineraries, northern and southern Lau seven nights as well.

About the vessel:

  • It has 57 suites
  • Many have baths, and private balconies with full-length glass sliding doors.
  • It has alfresco dining and more formal dining rooms.
  • It has a fleet of 10 zodiacs
  • It will carry multiple marine biologists, ocean ambassadors, and cultural experts.
