Naivilaca To Be Marked Girmit ‘Peace Village’
Naivilaca Village in Rewa will be declared a ‘Peace’ Village’ as part of the Girmit Day celebrations this week.

Naivilaca Village in Rewa will be declared a ‘Peace’ Village’ as part of the Girmit Day celebrations this week.
This gesture will be accorded to the villagers to commemorate the efforts of their forefathers in rescuing Girmitiyas from the shipwrecked Syria on Nasilai Reef in 1884 and for providing a resting place to those who lost their lives in the incident.
Assistant Minister for Women, Children and Poverty Alleviation in a press conference yesterday said Girmit Day celebrations this year was scheduled to start this Thursday until next Monday at Albert Park, Suva.
