2 Men, Woman Accused Of Importing Meth Granted Bail

Two men and a woman accused of importing methamphetamine have been released on bail by the Magistrates Court in Nadi on Monday.
They are Hitendra Goundar, 39, and a mechanic of Makoi in Suva; Rageshni Lata Prasad, 47, and a businesswoman from Matavolivoli in Nadi; and Rabin Prasad, 43, unemployed from Nakasi.
On May 1, 2023, officers from the Fiji Police Force and the Fiji Revenue and Customs Service (FRCS) intercepted a consignment at the Nadi International Airport which was addressed to a business in Suva.
The consignment contained 20 stainless steel bolts with a white substance which later tested positive for methamphetamine.
Two men and the woman have been charged with one count of unlawful importation of illicit drugs. The woman faces additional charges of unlawful possession of illicit drugs and unlawful transportation of illicit drugs while the two men face an added charge of unlawful transportation of illicit drugs.
All three accused persons have been granted bail in the sum of $200 with two sureties each in the like sum of $200.
The accused persons are ordered not to re-offend while on bail, not to interfere with the prosecution witnesses, and not to change their addresses without the leave of the court.
Goundar is ordered to report to Nasinu Police Station, Rageshni Prasad is ordered to report to Namaka Police Station while Rabin Prasad is ordered to report to Nakasi Police Post on the first day of every month.
A curfew has also been placed on all three accused persons from 7pm to 5am.
The three accused persons are ordered to surrender their travel documents and passports and a stop departure order has been issued against them.
The matter will be called for plea on June 27.
