Three Missing Fishermen Found

Three fishermen who had been missing at sea were reunited with their families at Namara Village in Yasawa on Sunday.
The group onboard a fiberglass punt departed the Lautoka Fisheries Wharf last Saturday at 4.30pm to return to the Yasawas.
Onboard were building materials including concrete blocks.
When the three did not reach the village, villagers alerted police and a search got underway.
Police spokesperson Ana Naisoro said the three swam to the Barefoot Kuata Island Resort Fiji, in Yasawa at about 0730hrs yesterday.
“They were being sheltered at the resort and transported to their village which is nearby,” she said.
Resort staff Semi Lewai said the trio swam to the resort and were cared for by the staff and then they were dropped at their village.
“Their boat capsised on the other side of the island. They lost everything including the new engine, but the good thing is that they are alive.”
