Animal Desexing Mission Helps Taveuni

Taveuni Animal Lovers (TAL), the only charity organisation that operates exclusively on Taveuni Island, has just completed a record breaking desexing mission.
For the past two weeks, volunteer American veterinarian and Fijian veterinary nurse, Liz Snellgrove and Shaneel Narayan, performed 135 surgeries.
“An additional 111 animals were examined, checked for fleas and tick, and given deworming medicines,” TAL president Julie Seidman said.
“This village outreach mission will help improve the health and overall wellbeing of Taveuni’s animals.”
She said the free parasite treatments for 246 village animals would not only help the animals, but benefit the families of their owners too.
“Our efforts were aided by the help of sponsors such as Coca-Cola Amatil, Paradise Beverages, CostULess, FIJI Water Foundation, Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA), Rewa, Courts and Resort Realty.
“We could not provide these critically needed services for Taveuni without donations of cash or in kind. We extend a big vinaka vakalevu to these local corporate sponsors who help us help the underserved animals on the Garden Island of Fiji.”
TAL, non-government organisation (NGO) which has been providing service since 2019 promotes ‘Healthier animals equals healthier people.’
The 132 desexings will reduce the number of stray animals in the near future.
Thus, in this kind of programme everyone has a win-win situation.
