Brace For It – Rice Shortage Warning
Fiji Rice Pte Limited, a local rice producer, has raised concerns about the diminishing local rice supply in Fiji.
The company has ramped up its distribution of brown rice to local supermarkets.
Chief executive officer Ashrit Pratap emphasised the necessity for increased local production to supplement the scarcity of white rice.
The shortage of white rice is not limited to Fiji, as global production levels are reportedly low, significantly impacting the Asia-Pacific region, according to CNBC.
Chairman of Fiji Rice Raj Sharma has assured that brown rice supply would be sufficient for the next three months.
