A former prominent journalist who survived an accident at Waiyabia, Navua, on November 5, 2021, is still not medically cleared for an interview, says the Fiji Police Force.

Chief of Intelligence, Investigations and Prosecutions, Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (A/ACP) Sakeo Raikaci said Police could not question Epineri Vula without a medical clearance.

“Police are not medical experts to overrule the decision made on medical grounds,” ACP Raikaci said.

“Therefore, Traffic officers will have to wait until the doctors clear him to be questioned.

“He has not been cleared to date and they cannot pursue the questioning process.”

The accident resulted in the death of Elenoa Savuiwasa, 34, Jemima Grace, 11, Elijah Armstrong, 4, and Moses Koroibulileka, 11.

It is alleged that Mr Vula was driving at the time of the accident.

Soroyasiga Davis is hoping that justice will prevail for her two children, Jemima Grace, 11, Elijah Armstrong, 4, and brother-in-law, Moses Koroibulileka, 11.

“We want the law to take its own course, but how can we trust the process when it has been one year and six months since the accident, and Epineri has not been questioned,” Ms Davis said.
