Roko Ului To Represent Lau At GCC Meet?

Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara (also known as Roko Ului) is expected to be one of the representatives of the Lau Province to the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC) meeting.
This was confirmed by a source close to the chiefly household of the Late Tui Nayau Ratu Sir Kamisese Mara.
Roko Ului is expected to arrive sometime this week in time for the meeting that begins on May 23 on Bau Island.
In March, Roko Ului was approached by the Matua (elders) of Tui Nayau and other groups in regards to the Tui Nayau title.
The Tui Nayau title has been vacant since 2004.
Roko Ului was charged with mutiny and accused of attempting to overthrow the previous government in May 2011.
He later fled Fiji with the assistance of the Royal Tongan Navy.
Roko Tui Lau Joji Kalounivau and Lau Provincial Council chair Alipate Naiorosui could not confirm Roko Ului’s participation.
They directed all questions to the iTaukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage Permanent Secretary Pita Tagicakirewa.
Mr Tagicakirewa said once gazetted, the names would only be released by the Minister for iTaukei Affairs, Culture, Heritage and Arts Ifereimi Vasu.
