Strong Wind Warning Remains In Force

Winds of this strength are not destructive, however, it can break tree branches, damage shallow rooted crops and weak, unshielded structures like temporary sheds and tents in exposed communities.

Strong Wind Warning Remains In Force

A Strong Wind Warning remains in force for the land areas of coastal areas of Rakiraki, Southern Bua, Lau, Lomaiviti Group, Yasawa Group, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

This is due to a trough of low pressure that lies to the north of the Fiji group. Associated clouds and showers are expected to affect the country during the next few days.

Also, a fresh to strong southeast wind flow prevails over the group. Winds turning and becoming predominantly easterly later today.

 

Forecast Until Midnight Tonight: 

Expect southeast winds with wind speeds up to 45 kilometres per hour over the land areas of Lau, Lomaiviti Group, Yasawa Group, coastal areas of Rakiraki and Southern Bua, Taveuni and nearby smaller islands.

Moderate to fresh southeast winds is expected elsewhere. Winds are turning and becoming easterly later today.

Cloudy with brief showers and isolated thunderstorms over the Northern Division, Lau Group and Lomaiviti Group.

Cloudy periods with brief showers over the Coral Coast, Serua-Namosi, Lami, Suva, Nausori, Tailevu, Naitasiri and Kadavu. Elsewhere, fine weather apart from afternoon or evening showers.
