Thefts, Break-ins ‘Alarming’

The number of alleged thefts and robberies recorded last weekend has raised alarm bells within community members in the Central, Western and Northern divisions.
While Police could not give an indication if there was an increase in the number of petty crimes last weekend, police chief of operations officer, Assistant Commissioner of Police Livai Driu, said most of the robberies were opportunistic and not planned, like before.
In Labasa, the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) are investigating how $12,000 cash was allegedly stolen from the Interlink Shipping Line Limited office in Labasa Town.
