Tribunal To Preside Over Qiliho ‘Sorted’, Says A-G

The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Siromi Turaga says the tribunal setup to hear the case of suspended Commissioner of Police Brigadier-General Sitiveni Qiliho has been sorted and will sit soon.
President Ratu Wiliame Katonivere suspended Mr Qiliho on January 27, effective immediately pending investigations and referral to and appointment of a tribunal.
When asked for an update on the matter, Prime Minister Sitiveni Rabuka said the Constitutional Offices Commission had done the initial discussions and the Attorney-General was handling the setup of the tribunal.
He said the A-G would make the recommendations to the President and the President would make the appointment.
He did not reveal any names yet.
He was also queried if there were plans to get in overseas judges to ensure the independence of the tribunal.
