The amended national Skipper Cup competition is kicking off on Saturday, July 1.

Provincial rugby unions were advised of the change in a memo from national operations manager and acting administrator Sale Sorovaki last Friday.

The memo states that the usual two rounds in the past season have been reduced to one round of competition this year.

There would be no development competitions, however unions will be given the opportunity to organise such themselves with touring unions should they wish to accommodate it.
