Acting Supervisor of Elections Ana Mataiciwa has confirmed that the Fijian Elections Office will soon review a number of Electoral laws.

FEO after consultations with its stakeholders following the 2022 General Election review, there were some provisions that were still restrictive to our stakeholders, she said.

“So on that note, we will be reviewing the three electoral laws,” she said.

“We will ensure consultations from our stakeholders to just help us review and implement laws that are practical for the next general election.

“When I speak of the review of the three Electoral Act, I mean a review of the entire laws and the provisions that exist in those laws.”

She assured that this would be done through thorough consultations to ensure that the relevant provisions were amended.

“This will be an inclusive consultation. At the moment we just had our strategic committee in place, I can’t confirm a date but it will take place,” Ms Mataiciwa said.
