The organisers of the 14th Sunny West Bowling Carnival received a major boost from its consortium of sponsors during the launch at the Nadi Sports and Social Club on Wednesday night.

This was after major sponsors Sun Insurance and Fiji Gas renewed their partnership for the tournament. Also in the fold are Capricorn Hotel, Portion Pak, Wild Tigers Fast-food & Takeaways, FIJI Water, Tappoo Ltd, Paradise Beverages, and Mogul Limited.

The total consortium sponsorship totals $11, 500.

Club president Mike Jamieson said without the sponsors nothing much can be done.

“The entry free does not cover the event. This event does attract international tourists, it helps Fiji tourism and accommodation. A Papua New Guinea company will be coming on board from next year.”

He acknowledged new sponsors Wild Tigers, Portion Pak, and Mogul Ltd.

SWB chairman David Aitcheson said for 14 years this tournament has been going, it took a nosedive during COVID, now it is on a comeback.

“Fifteen overseas teams made up of 44 international players from Australia, New Zealand and Canada are taking part. We want to make this tournament bigger and better in years to come and with the help of the sponsors coming on board we can make it happen,” he said.

The competition got underway yesterday with the fours competition with the pairs set for next week.
