The uniform you now wear wields great power and authority and with that comes great responsibility. Never forget that.

These were the words of encouragement by the Acting Minister for Home Affairs and Immigration, Filimoni Vosarogo to the 184 new Police Constables during the Fiji Police Force batch 65 passing-out parade at the Nasova Grounds in Suva on Friday.

Mr Vosarogo said the event was a testament of perseverance and persistence the recruits mastered and endured in the past four months.

“Your character will be tested by how you handle the power that your uniform gives you,” Mr Vosarogo said.

“You are in a profession that contributes immensely to its communities in ensuring the safety and security of all. A profession that calls on those who have chosen to wear the police uniform must be ethically strong, selfless, and conduct themselves with integrity and high moral standing in all aspects of their lives.”

Mr Vosarogo said the parade demonstrated Pacific partnership where Police recruits from the Nauru Police Force and Tuvalu Police Force jointly with the Fiji Police Force in completing four months of basic recruits training.

“You have displayed great fortitude by putting on an impressive passing-out parade witnessed by your families and loved ones.

“Whether you are serving in Fiji, Tuvalu, or Nauru, people expect nothing less than Police officers who are incorruptible, honest, honourable, and can be entrusted to uphold the law.”
