Roko Ului in Fiji, Police Await DPP Guidance on Case

Chief of Intelligence, Investigations and Prosecutions Acting Assistant Commissioner of Police (A/ACP) Sakeo Raikaci said: “The Criminal Investigation Department has alerted the Office of the DPP of his arrival in Fiji as per the requirement of the Border Alert and we await further guidance from them.”

Roko Ului in Fiji, Police Await DPP Guidance on Case
Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba (Roko Ului) named as one of the representatives from the Lau.

Ratu Tevita Uluilakeba Mara arrived in the country on Saturday.

He will represent the Province of Lau at the Great Council of Chiefs meeting on Bau Island that begins this week.

A border alert was issued against him on March 15.

 

Roko Ului as he is commonly known was due for questioning by Police upon arrival to Fiji.

Acting Minister for Immigration Filimoni Vosarogo confirmed that the Border Alert was in relation to the case withODPP – State vs Roko Ului Mara, Criminal Action 742/2011.

Roko Ului was charged by police on the May 4, 2011 with Seditious Intention.

 

He left the jurisdiction of Fiji and the courts without leave and failed to appear to answer the charge,” Mr Vosarogo said.

When questioned if Roko Ului was questioned by Police when he arrived to Fiji on Saturday,

Acting Director of Public Prosecution David Toganivalu had earlier said that he had handed over the case to his assistant as he was related to Roko Ului.

Mr Toganivalu had not responded to queries when this edition went to press.
