Duo Ventures Into $100k Skin Clinic

American Academy of Aestheticians-trained specialists, Dr Harshika Shandil and Dr Vishala Chandra, have opened a skin treatment centre yesterday named Medical Cosmetic Skin Clinic.
Located at the Aerotown Complex Namaka, Nadi, the clinic aims to provide specialised skin and beauty consultations and treatment to patients.
“We have seen people going overseas for cosmetic surgeries, they are going for botox, they are going for fillers; they are going for wrinkle removal, scar removal and all these things overseas. So why not bring it to Fiji?” Dr Shandil said.

More than $100,000 went into setting up the clinic, which was funded by the couple. It has three staff members.
The clinic will have laser machines for wrinkle removal, facial rejuvenation and tattoo removal.
Dr Shandil said the decision to open the Medical Cosmetic Skin Clinic in Nadi came about after she medically treated her own acne problems.
“I used to go to spas, but then it would not get treated, so we were one day sitting and we thought, we are doctors why don’t we try treating it medically? We managed to clear it a bit and then trying to get rid of the scars was a big issue,” she said.
