The High Court in Lautoka has granted prosecution time until next month to file the summary of facts in the case of Subramani Naidu, who is charged with one count of murder and one count of attempted murder.

Naidu allegedly murdered his two-year-old nephew, Munish Vivan Naidu, and attempted to murder his great-grandmother, 74, with a cane knife in Nadi on February 17, 2012.

The matter was heard before High Court Judge Justice Aruna Aluthge on Friday and Naidu was represented by Legal Aid Commission lawyer Michael Fesaitu while the state was represented by Shreta Prakash.

Ms Prakash said the matter was to check on the summary of facts for the case, however the state counsel in car-riage of the case was caring for his sick father and sought seven days so that he could be present in court.

Mr Fesaitu said he did not have any issues with this, however he requested that the state forward a copy of the summary of facts to the defence once it was ready.

Justice Aluthge adjourned the matter to June 2 for mention and further remanded Naidu.
