Fiji Girmit Remembrance Day In NZ

Despite the inclement weather of a miserable, rainy, windy, and stormy night, the Fiji Girmit Remembrance Day in New Zealand event was a beautiful, excellent, well-organized, and well-attended affair.
Representing Fiji were Minister for Sugar and Multi Ethnic Affairs Charan Jeath Singh, Fiji’s High Commissioner to NZ Ratu Inoke Kubuabola, First Secretary Josua Tuwere, and Fiji Counsel in Auckland Harish Lodhia.
A highlight of the event was the prestigious Fiji Girmit Medals awarded to 18 exceptional descendants of the Girmitiya generation, with some over 80 years old, including one remarkable individual aged 93.
The event organizers, led by Krish Naidu and his dedicated team of executives, volunteers, and sponsors, deserve a special salute for hosting such a magnificent occasion.
