Forgive Us: Government Will Present A Matanigasau To Chiefs Today

The Fiji Government will present a matanigasau today to the Great Council of Chiefs (GCC).

The Fiji Sun was reliably informed that the matanigasau would serve as a sincere plea for forgiveness to the chiefs for any wrongdoing committed by the Government, specifically concerning the abolition of the GCC meeting and any inappropriate words that may have been spoken to the chiefs.

The GCC was suspended in 2007 and abolished by the Voreqe Bainimarama- led Government in 2012.

It had accused the Council of “being politicised to the detriment of Fiji’s pursuit of a common and equal citizenry”.
