The Sheraton Golf Classic, an International Pro-Am & teams’ tournament, is offering $140, 000 in prize money and other prizes this week.

The golf classic starts today for both professional and amateur golfers.

The event is played over four rounds of golf, with players playing two rounds at the Natadola Bay championship golf course and the other two rounds at the Denarau Golf & Racquet Club.

The tournament’s major sponsor is the Sheraton Fiji Golf & Beach Resort.

Pacific Golf Management Limited director Richard Ellis said: “The tournament has an individual competition for amateurs and professionals, but the emphasis is on the team stableford and gross events.

“Each team will be made up of one professional and three amateur players.”

“The tournament offers $110,000 in professional prize money and $30,000 amateur prizes.

“This is a great opportunity for the overseas players to make up a team with a local pro, or can put them into a team or if they chose to enter individually.

“The event offers great value for money and is the biggest pro-am tournament in Fiji.”

Ellis added that tournament was unique as there were going to be a number of competitions within the tournament.

“There will be an individual amateur and professional section; however the main competition will be the team’s events.

“The event is open to men and women.”

He said all winning team members in the team stableford and team gross competition would receive a full free entry package including five night’s accommodation to return and defend their titles next year.

“The winners of the overall amateur stableford and gross competitions would also win a free entry package including accommodation to the 2024 event.

“The amateur team members would in fact be helping their professional players win prize money in the team events.

“Apart from the major overall prizes there will be daily prizes.”

The event ends on Saturday and would be followed with the prize giving.
