Ratu Epeli To Speak About Ratu Sukuna At Fiji Museum

Ratu Epeli Nailatikau will speak about the life of Ratu Sir Lala Sukuna at the Fiji Museum on Monday.
This will be part of the Ratu Sukuna six-day celebration.
Ratu Sukuna died 65 years ago (May 30 , 1958) after he had fulfilled his obligation by elevating the iTaukei people and chiefs to positions of leadership.
Fiji Museum senior exhibition officer Vika Musumoto said admission to the museum was free for two days.
This will be on Saturday and Monday, while the free display which will be outside the museum will start from today until Monday.
Ms Musumoto said this year’s Ratu Sukuna Day celebration was significant because it was removed.
“We are lucky because we have everything in our library,” she said.
“We did not source anything else from outside, and we have some of his artifacts that we are going to put up as digital.”
Ms Musumoto said the museum had Ratu Sukuna’s coat, hat, walking stick, and working table among many other artifacts that Fiji’s statesman had in his honor.
The museum is expecting more students and members of the public to visit the museum.
During the Girmit celebration, the museum recorded more than 2000 visitors and for this event it anticipates this number to double.
