Cash Payment Tomorrow

A group of cane farmers can expect cash payment tomorrow after the green light was given for the resumption of transport subsidy assistance, two years after the scheme was suspended.
Labasa Cane Producers Association (LPCA) yesterday paid out $619,094.22 to members who supplied cane for the 2022 crushing season. The pay out yesterday by Fiji Sugar Corporation marked a drop from the last payment of $651,964 in 2020.
Since its establishment in 2010, the association has supported its members annually through programmes to improve productivity and livelihood of producers,
LPCA president Mohammed Hanif said subsidies were withheld in 2020 and 2021 because of the impact of the coronavirus pandemic.
