Make Fiji better!

That was the challenge put forward from the Gone Marama Bale na Roko Tui Dreketi, Ro Teimumu Kepa, while graciously accepting the matanigasau (traditional apology) from Government to the vanua. Ro Teimumu is the head of the Burebasaga confederacy.

She accepted the apology on behalf of Ratu Epenisa Cakobau, the head of the Kubuna confederacy, and Ratu Naiqama Lalabalavu, the head of the Tovata confederacy.

The apology from Government to the vanua was presented by the Native Lands Commission’s acting chairman, Apimeleki Tola.

“This tabua (whale’s tooth) is important, a tabua of love, a tabua for the matanigasau from the Government,” she said during the opening of the Great Council of Chiefs on the chiefly island of Bau.
