Winning against Papua New Guinea in the Oceania Rugby Women’s Championship opener tonight will set the tone of the Vodafone Fijiana’s performance.

Fijiana head coach Inoke Male said the tournament was crucial as they try to gain a place in the World Rugby Women’s XV competition in October.

Fijiana takes on PNG at 7:30pm at Bond University, Australia.

“We want to win with a good margin, set the platform for the Oceania Championship,” he said.

With the side’s 22-5 loss to the Wallaroos, Male said they have been working on their weaknesses.

Male, yesterday, sent his condolence to the Kunatuba family over the death of former Fijiana 7s and Namosi women’s head coach Elenoa Kunatuba, who identified, developed and nurtured a number of national reps.

Male has made a few changes to his starting 15, with the three sevens’ players to start.
