Parma Wati was inconsolable yesterday as she detailed the last time she spoke to her daughter, Damni Darshani Naidu .

Ms Naidu died in road accident on Wednesday afternoon after she was hit by a truck at Waikona Tavua.

“A doctor called yesterday and told me to tell Damni’s daughters to go and see her at the Tavua Hospital,” Ms Wati said.

“From there she was transferred to the Lautoka Hospital, but at 5pm she passed away.

“Two of our relatives went to see the body. I could not stop crying when I received the news yesterday because the last time we talked was seven months ago when she left to live with a man at Natawa.

“I will miss her even though she did not leave us on good terms. She is still my daughter.”

She said her 30-year-old daughter was a mother of two and was working at the Tavua MaxVal-U Supermarket as a cashier.

“The driver said she was wearing her earpiece while crossing the road and the driver of the truck was coming from Ba and didn’t see her because there is a bend where the accident happened at Natawa near the Mandir (temple),” she said.
