‘Every Sporting Board Must Have An Athlete’s Rep’

The Fiji Association of Sports and National Olympic Committee’s (FASANOC) Athletes Commission forum got underway at the Holiday Inn in Suva, today.
FASANOC chief executive officer Vanessa Kilner said every national federation must have an athlete’s representative in its board.
She said the athlete’s rep is there to voice the athletes concerns, the difficulties that they go through, their safety and welfare.
“FASANOC is going to monitor that this happens,” she said.
The Athletes Commission was established to promote and protect the best interests of Fiji’s national sports athletes with one of its functions being to represent the views and concerns of athletes to the FASANOC executive board (EB) and to promote athlete
involvement in decision-making at all levels.
Representatives from archery, baseball, chess, bodybuilding, taekwondo, golf, hockey, triathlon, squash, football, swimming, para-sports, shooting, volleyball, karate and tennis attended the forum.
