Tui Suva Unveils Ratu Sukuna Monument
The iTaukei Land Trust Board (TLTB) paid homage to Ratu Sir Josefa Lalabalavu Vanayaliyali Sukuna’s enduring influence and his contributions to Fiji.
TLTB celebrated Ratu Sukuna Day at its office in Suva on Friday through the re-installation of the Ratu Sukuna Monument that was first unveiled on-site 68 years ago.
The brass statue was unveiled by a traditional owner of the land where the city of Suva is located, Tui Suva Sanaila Mudunavosa.
Acting chief executive officer Peni Qalo said it was a significant occasion for TLTB to celebrate and honor the life and contributions of Ratu Sukuna, a prominent Fijian statesman and leader.
